In developing the Multicare we brought together 150 doctors and nurses and made them part of our development team. We wanted to know what their “dream bed” would be, what would make both their patients and their own lives a whole lot easier. Our experience and close cooperation with clinical care practitioners has allowed us to offer the world´s most comprehensive solution for critical care :
The respiratory tract of patients who are immobilized for long periods of time often falls victim to serious health complications, whose treatment can be very costly (e.g. a reduction of residual lung capacity, atelectasis or VAP). Morbidity and mortality associated with the development of VAP ranges from 20–41%. The resulting increase in costs was estimated at $11,000 per case in the USA.
According to statistics, every year one million patients suffer a fall while in intensive care, and this just in the U.S. alone. Of these, 30% result in mild to serious injuries.
The caring of patients in critical condition can be extremely challenging, both physically and mentally. Nursing staff frequently complain of back pain, leading to operational down time and impaired performance.
